About
In Spring 2025, Senate Bill 1 (SB-1) was passed, reducing the amount of property tax revenue available in the coming years. As a result, Transpo anticipates a budget reduction of approximately 15%, which will require modifications in bus service.
The two primary ways to reduce bus services are by modifying route coverage or route frequency. Modifying coverage means eliminating service to lower-ridership areas, while modifying frequency means running fewer buses on high-traffic corridors. Currently, 62% of the system's ridership comes from routes that operate every 30 minutes.
Reference Maps
The maps below illustrate the potential approaches: Coverage Model vs Ridership Model. The 30-minute routes are shown in blue, 60-minute routes in green, and peak-only routes in orange.
These maps are not final proposals, but are intended as reference points to help guide discussion about service priorities.
